Sam is finished with radiation at this time. He went into chemo on Monday at his regular time just for blood work. So a week of rest for him. Actually it will be two weeks for him to recuperate from the radiation. His chest and back areas are like a bad sun burn, but he has medicine to apply to the areas. He will start chemo again on July 8 and he will go in every 3 weeks for a treatment. Hopefully his chest and back will heal and his problem swallowing will lessen in the two weeks “vacation” from treatment. His energy level is getting lower and his hair is still falling out (but he still has enough).
We are going to San Diego to a time share at the Gas Lamp Plaza on Sunday, June 29, for a week. So it will be a real vacation.
I had stitches removed on Thursday and the areas look good. After two more weeks I’ll be able to put full weight on my foot. Bad news (here’s that phrase again) is that I won’t be able to play golf for two more months. But I guess I’ll survive!
Some friends from San Diego came for a visit and were really impressed with all the cards we have received. When we told them about all the meals and offers to help out in any way, they couldn’t believe how generous and caring our neighborhood is. They have lived in the same house across the street from Lake Murray since 1968, very nice neighborhood and nice neighbors, but only a few of the families really know each other. Sam and I know that we are truly blessed to live in this “little bit of paradise” and to have the Castle Creekers as friends and neighbors.
Again, many thanks for all of your kindness and prayers.
