Sam had 2 weeks off from any treatment which gave his chest and back time to heal. But more and more of his hair started to come out. Still some problems swallowing, but appetite was pretty good while we were on “vacation” and eating out every day. He went in for another dose of chemo on July 8th, the same two medicines but a heavier dose, and will go in every third week instead of once a week, to be followed the next day with a shot to build up his blood. He goes back to the radiologist on Friday (18th). Then next week on Monday he goes back to chemo for blood work only and a consultation.

This week his appetite has decreased, nothing tastes good, but he manages to eat something or drink Ensure. Last week at weigh-in he had lost 10 pounds since the beginning of treatment which isn’t too bad. Energy level is decreasing also.

When he went in for his hair cut, he told Dee to shave his head, but she said she would rather cut it short to start out. He looks kind of cute, reminds me of the haircuts he gave the boys when they were young.

My ankle is healing and looking much better. I still have one place that the stitches haven’t completely healed, but I’m getting around a lot better now that I can put more weight on that foot.
